Pacific Coast College has announced the establishment of a new Sustainability Research Center, funded by a $12 million federal grant, bringing together faculty from six schools to address climate change and clean energy innovation.
The center will focus on three core areas: renewable energy systems, coastal climate resilience, and sustainable agriculture. It will also provide research opportunities for over 200 undergraduate and graduate students annually.
"This center represents exactly the kind of interdisciplinary, problem-driven work that defines PCC," said President Margaret L. Chen. "Climate change doesn't respect departmental boundaries — and neither do we."

PCC's online MBA program has been ranked among the top 25 in the nation by a leading education publication, recognizing its flexibility, faculty quality, and graduate outcomes.
The incoming Fall 2025 class is the largest and most diverse in PCC history, with students representing 42 U.S. states and 38 countries.
A team from the School of Computing and Technology took first place in a global AI challenge, developing a model that improves early detection of medical imaging anomalies.
PCC will add women's lacrosse and men's swimming as varsity sports beginning Fall 2026, expanding athletic opportunities for student-athletes.
The completely renovated student union features expanded dining, collaborative study spaces, a new multicultural center, and panoramic views of the Pacific.
Over 1,800 degrees were conferred at PCC's 16th annual commencement ceremony, with a nationally recognized journalist delivering the keynote address.
